A Word of Caution about your Passport

For all you international travelers out there – here’s a tip about your passport

It was so much fun to have our passports stamped on our recent trip and aside from a few comments that Terry got about the lack of a beard on his passport photo, everything went smoothly and the folks were quite friendly overall.

But here’s a word of caution if you’re planning an international trip in the future.

Apparently the “real” expiration date on your passport is actually six months before the date shown on the page.  From what I’ve been reading here a good number of countries will not allow you in if you have less than 6 months left on your passport.  I can’t find a specific reason why, but suffice it to say that you would probably not be a happy camper if your round trip flight got you only as far as the airport (at your destination) and back.

That means we need to get to work on getting ours renewed since it expires in 2011.

Have you ever run into any issues when your passport was reviewed?  I hope not.

Have fun traveling!
